After a short cash game and a long tournament we went to bed at 4am.
Get up at 8am feeling a little worse for wear, it must have been thw jetlag. Off to pick up Jim, at the airport, after stoppng at WaffleHouse. After we pick up Jim we head on over to the Bluff Magazine Head Quarters for the BLT and lunch. I was still feeling a lttle under the weather and did quite a lot of sitting down. The gambling started early, prop bets on how many seconds it would take for someone to say something, prop bets on whether or not people could understand my accent, $10 bets on playing heads up video poker ( I lost 4 in a row). The BLT Tournement started, i was still feelng a little iffy ( it must have been somethng I ate), so I just drank a lot of water and rested my head on the table durng hands. Came 3rd. Didnt bother joning the cash game after,
Frday night was bowling night where the prop bets flew thick and fast. I bowled a 124 and a 116 which everyone thought was pretty good for a rookie. Back to Jeremy;s and bed at the early time of midnight.
Saturday, after a breakfast lovingly made by Jeremy (French Toast), we piled n the car and headed over to Andrettis Indoor Karting. We had a very nice liesurely lunch wth lots of beer on the table and wine (great before you go flying round a Kart track at 35MPH). I was really bad, but ohh well you cant be good at everything.
After the kartng we just headed into the arcade where we spent a few hours makng stupid prop bets and trying to earn 7,000 tickets to get a damn large stuffed toy. We ended up with 4,000 tickets which was a hell of an effort. Used it to get some przes for that nights main event.
The main event was being held at Jeffs house who lves somewhere near Boston. (t was a long drive). A few people were late arriving so Drew was impateint to get a cash game going. He did, but t only lasted about 10 minutes before we were up and running. The main event was a $50 buy n and a $10 bounty to whoever knocked you out. I played well and ran my chip stack up to about 45,000 chips (started with 10,000). Unfortunitley I then played a bad 30 minutes where I was makng large bet calls on the toss of a coin and I was knocked out in 10th place with my 66 vs JJ. The guy who knocked me out went on the win.
Home to Jeremys at about 5am.
Up Sunday morning anf off to take Jim to the airport so he can fly back to Kansas City. We stop at IHOP (Internetional House of Pancakes) for breakfast where we are joined by Jeremy;s wife and son. We then head over to the hotel where Scott, Tom, Jerry and Leeman were staying. We say goodbyes and share MANLY hugs and lose Jim, Scott and Tom, but gainA Jerry and Lee to come with us. We are all feelng a little worn out so we just decide to go back to Jeremys house and piss around playng some online. played the Sunday Warm up and bomb out, then I play the Sunday Millons (both entries I won through my Player Points), but alas I bombed out on tht too. Played a few others but it wasnt my day. We then got a live game going of 5c/10c (very small levels for us). Players were Me, Lee, Jeremy, Brianna and Jerry, the game didnt stay tame for long, but hey we are all gamblers.Lee lost his $20 early and wimped out. Wine was drunk and other game suggestions on games were made, we started playing Blind Mans Bluff, which is where you get 1 card which you dont look at. You stick it to your forehead so all the others can see it, and you bet on how strong you feel your card is after you see what the other players have with the cards stuck to their foreheads. After that came Red Dog, probably the sickest card game i have ever ever played. $1 in from each player, call a bet and lose you put whatever you called into the pot, I call a pot bet ( worth $50 ) and win, make a few other good calls, then all hell broke lose. Pot, lose, Pot lose, Pot lose, Pot lose, wow, pot stands at $200, Jeremy's turn, POT, wow, there are oly 4 cards in the entire deck of cards that can make Jeremy lose, an Ace or a King, Pot, a $200 bet with a 92% chance of winning, seems simple until the card gets turned and its a King, the look on Jeremy;s face was priceless, if you like the look of people shitting themselves. So now there is $400 on the table which means that the next pot bet is $400 to call, we decide to take a 5 mnute break. What started as a night of simplr 5c/10c No Limit (where $20 s the most you could lose), we are now staring at people losing $200-$400 on a flip of a card, so we actually do the unthinkable. We stop the games dead, and everyone gets their money back. We were playing for fun, not to make people broke. So we did the right thing and called the game off, I loved everyone at that table to much to risk paycheques on card flips.
After catching our breath, puttinig the cards away and talking a bit of shit, off to bed at about 2am, up at 6.30 am to head to the train station to catch the Amtrak to New Orleans. Jerry and I decide to upgrade to a sleeper car so we can get some much needed sleep. What was a surprise was that all meals were free after we did that. It was a very nice and relaxing, and some of the scenery was cool, and some was very Southeren ( double wides with a porch).
Arrived at Jerrys to say my lne i had been praticing for a few days " How Yall Doin". Jerrys wife works at the local casino so off we went to the casino for a Buffett meal. casino was very much the same as the casno in Christchurch BUT and this is a big BUT, ALL ALCOHOL IS FREE. I ordered a glass of Merlot and handed to barman a $20 note only to have every one yell "NO" at me, the barman looks at me and says "All drnks are free sir, all you need to do is tip", so I took back my $20 note and gave him $1, LOL.
I will post some photos later. The Bluff forum will have some good stories if anybody wants to look. Thats all from me for now.
